Documentary Shorts 4 shines a light on connection, perseverance, and the power of people building meaning in the face of injustice, memory, and identity.

In Her Fight, His Name: The Story of Gwen Carr and Eric Garner, a mother channels her grief into activism, continuing her decade-long pursuit of justice for her son. Town Square reimagines Alzheimer’s care through a nostalgic 1950s village, showing how memory and design can spark dignity and comfort. Stay Out of the Sun threads together stories of colorism, exploring how early lessons about skin tone echo across lifetimes.

With lush visuals and personal reflection, Brewer looks at bias and belonging through the lens of craft beer, while The Pho King brings a dose of warmth and humor as one man sets out to eat at every pho restaurant in Salt Lake City.

This program captures what it means to find purpose—in the fight for justice, in the care of others, and in the everyday rituals that keep us connected.

The film confronts the everyday biases that challenge people in workplaces as unexpected as a craft brewery. The location (brewery) and the process (brewing) become a microcosmic representative of everyday discrimination.
