The 17%

Collette Divitto is a young woman who was born with Down Syndrome. After being turned down, time after time after time, for many job opportunities, Collette decided to open her own company, “Collettey’s Cookies.” Of people with a neurological disability, only 17% had been employed in the workforce, while the other 83% had been unemployed. Collette’s success has opened the door for others, as Collettey’s Cookies are now being distributed all over the United States. Collette now hires other individuals with disabilities and continues to fight for job equality. This observational documentary follows Collette’s journey through her triumphs and success as an entrepreneur and disability rights activist.
