The 2026 SHOWCASE SUMMER CAMPS offer chances for young filmmakers to bring their stories to life! Whether they dream of writing an exciting screenplay, animating their own stop-motion film, or capturing real-world stories, our hands-on camps will ignite their imagination. Over five action-packed days, they’ll learn the art of storytelling, filmmaking techniques, and collaborate with fellow young creatives. Descriptions of the classes are below. Classes are limited to 20 students and take place at the Hi-Pointe Theatre.
STOP MOTION ANIMATION (Ages 8 – 12) – Raziel Lieb / Monday – Friday,  9:00am – 11:00amLearn the history of animation with a focus on stop motion, then jump into creating your own short film. In this hands-on class, students will design characters and setsusing materials like Legos while learning the fundamentals of planning, shooting, and bringing an animation to life. By the end, each participant will have completed their own stop-motion sequence from start to finish.
LOCATION FILM PRODUCTION – (All Ages) Ben Scholle / Monday – Friday, 11:30am – 1:30pm
This hands-on class takes students through the full experience of making films on location, blending narrative and documentary techniques over five focused sessions. Each day builds a different core skill: camera fundamentals, sound recording, directing and shooting a scripted dramatic scene, creating visual storytelling through montage, and finally producing a short documentary piece.
SHORT FILM SCREENWRITING – (All Ages) Josh Johnson / Monday – Friday, 2pm – 3:30 pm
Turn your story ideas into a finished short film script in this immersive five-day screenwriting class. You’ll work through brainstorming, story structure, character development, and proper formatting as you shape and refine your screenplay. By the end, you’ll walk away with the tools to write a polished draft ready for production.
