The Arab

In Algeria during the “years of lead,” against the backdrop of the Black Decade, Kamel, a young journalist, strives to bring a buried voice to light. In Oran, he meets Haroun, a solitary retiree, who shares a staggering story with him: he claims to be the brother of “the Arab” murdered in Albert Camus’s The Stranger. This Arab, whose erased name was Moussa, then becomes the starting point for a rereading of History, weaving together colonial memory, family silences, and political violence.
