OUTCRY: Alchemists of Rage

A short film that follows artist Whitney Bradshaw as she photographs women mid-scream in cathartic group sessions where long-silenced stories conjure rage, sorrow, and joy. An activist and sexual abuse survivor, Whitney uses art to fuel action for women’s rights, culminating in a grassroots fight for abortion access in Ohio.

This visceral and thought-provoking film explores how Bradshaw leads women, non-binary, and genderqueer individuals in empowering, therapeutic, and community-building scream sessions to create a collective portrait of resistance, motivate political action, and build feminist solidarity through radical empathy. The film was shortlisted by the International Documentary Association (IDA) for the Best Short Documentary Film Award 2024.

Director Clare Major and artist, film subject and producer Whitney Bradshaw will be joined by OUTCRY participant and St Louis resident Maya Lee for a post-film discussion.
